About Peter La Fond

Mr. La Fond inspired the creation of this website as a resource to help local candidates win, with practical guidance for every stage of a political campaign.

Experience Across Campaigns

He got his start in 1988 on a California Assembly race that pioneered database modeling and has worked nearly every role since. He was even a driver in the presidential campaign motorcade for Bob Dole. His breadth of experience gives readers of this website a genuine, ground-level perspective of how campaigns function and what truly works to win.

Leadership and Principles

An authentic candidate with a strong self-awareness of their own principles will carry their campaign through inevitable challenges. Have a playbook and stick to it. Disciplined candidates beat unfocused opponents who run fools’ errands. Candidates with grounded principles make superior executive decisions during a campaign. They cut through emotion, enable others to act more quickly, and arrive at better choices.

“All Politics is Local” Focus

Mr. La Fond encourages candidates to view all campaign issues as local. Even in federal races, it’s issues in the community that resonate most with voters.

Guiding New Candidates

When advising new candidates, he highlights three essentials for running: know one’s first principles, ensure alignment with the current political moment, and secure full family support before entering the race.

Commitment to Winning

Mr. La Fond works with candidates and campaign managers who are serious about winning, equipping them with the tools, discipline, and confidence they need to win.
