About Peter La Fond
Inspired by his decades of experience, Peter La Fond envisioned this website as a resource to guide local candidates toward success at every stage of their campaigns.
Peter La Fond began his involvement in politics during his first year in college, working on his first campaign for California Assembly candidate Buck Norred in 1988. That race, recognized for pioneering the use of database modeling in California political strategy, sparked what became a lifelong mission to help candidates navigate the complex world of political campaigns.
Experience Across Campaigns
Peter has worked in almost every campaign position there is, from campaign manager to door-to-door canvasser to serving as a driver in a presidential motorcade. This breadth of experience gives him a unique, ground-level understanding of how campaigns function and what it truly takes to win.

Leadership and Principles
With decades of experience, he knows that successful campaigns begin with the candidate. Authentic leadership is essential for carrying a campaign through inevitable challenges, and the strongest candidates lead with clarity and consistency.
“All Politics is Local” Focus
Peter encourages candidates to see that all campaign issues are ultimately local. Even in federal races, it is the distinctive concerns of a community that resonate most with voters. The most successful candidates are those who connect with the everyday priorities of their neighbors.
Strategy and Discipline
His approach stresses strategy, discipline, and execution. He sees the campaign playbook as the backbone of a candidate’s strategy: straying from it often leads to setbacks, while following it with tenacious discipline creates the conditions for success.
Guiding New Candidates
When advising new candidates, he highlights three essentials for running: know one’s first principles, ensure alignment with the current political moment, and secure full family support before entering the race.
Commitment to Winning
Peter works with candidates and campaign managers who are serious about winning, equipping them with the tools, discipline, and confidence they need to win.
